Clarkson University's Dana Barry Speaks at Award Ceremony in Slovenia
Dana M. Barry, senior technical writer and editor at Clarkson University’s Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP), delivered the welcoming address for an awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Ninth International Conference of the Institute for the Development of Social Responsibility (IRDO).
This year’s conference, "Social Responsibility and Current Challenges 2014: Health, Personal, and Social Responsibility," was held at the University of Maribor in Slovenia in early March.
Barry participated in the conference and served as a coauthor on the presented paper “The Individual Social Responsibility and the Sustainable Future of Humankind: A Basis for Societal Health,” by Professor Timi Ecimovic, et al.
She also delivered the welcoming speech for the Ansted Social Responsibility International Award ceremony. This prestigious honor was established by Professor Roger Haw, co-founder of Ansted University, to recognize and honor companies, organizations, and individuals, who are making outstanding contributions to the global society through their social responsibility practices.
Awards were presented to the cofounders of IRDO: Professor Emeritus Matjaz Mulej and IRDO General Manager Anita Hrast. Awards were also presented in the category of cross cultural development to Ambassador Dato' Dr. Ang Ban Siong, founder of the HEYU Group of companies, and to Ambassador Dr. Amy Ng Mooi Eng, co-developer of the HEYU Group. Barry wrote a poem in honor of the HEYU companies and read it at the ceremony.
Barry serves as a professor and scientific board president for Ansted University, which promotes the practice of social responsibility. She has published several papers about corporate social responsibility and the book chapter “Manage Air Quality to Protect Public Health,” International Dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility - Vol. II, edited by David Crowther and Renu Jatana; India: published by the ICFAI University Press (2005).
She also is a visiting professor at Suzuka National College of Technology in Japan. Her main collaborator there is Dean Professor Hideyuki Kanematsu. In addition, Barry is a Chemistry Ambassador for the American Chemical Society and holds an officer’s position for its Northern New York Section.
Barry’s trip was sponsored by HEYU Leisure Holidays Corporation, where she is an honorary advisor.
