Jie Sun Appointed Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University
Jie Sun has been appointed assistant professor of mathematics at Clarkson University.
He received his bachelor of science degree in physics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, and his master of science and doctoral degrees in applied mathematics from Clarkson.
Before accepting this position, he was a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at Northwestern University and a visiting postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University.
Sun’s research interests include dynamical systems, complex networks, statistical physics, synchronization, information theory, and image processing.
He has co-written articles in academic journals, been an invited speaker and made other presentations related to his research. In addition, he has organized workshops and mini-symposiums and collaborated on research with professors and students at major universities in the United States and in China.
Sun was awarded numerous travel grants, received the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics Chapter Certificate of Recognition, and was the poster winner of the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems Complexity Conference in 2009, held at Northwestern University.
