Clarkson University Named to Military Friendly Schools List for 2013
Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named Clarkson University to the coveted Military Friendly Schools list. The list is available at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com .
The list honors the top 15 percent of schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.
“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Clarkson University's commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and Victory Media vice president. “As interest in education grows, we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools."
The 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. These schools have world-class programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility, and other services to those who served.
Clarkson University provides full tuition benefits to qualifying post-9-11 active duty service members, veterans and eligible dependents of military personnel under the federal government’s Yellow Ribbon Program.
With a long history of military preparation on its campus, Clarkson's Army and Air Force ROTC units are consistently recognized in Washington Monthly Magazine's Annual College Guide as having the second highest concentration of ROTC military service in the nation.
Students in these programs are the recipients of numerous awards and recognition for their scholastic work as well as success in field training.
Of the 1,003 universities in Payscale’s 2011-2012 College Salary Report, Clarkson graduates also have the 17th highest starting salary average at $57,900.
Now in its fourth year, the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. The survey results that comprise the 2013 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media.
Each year schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an academic advisory board consisting of educators from schools across the country.
A full story and detailed list of 2013 Military Friendly Schools will be highlighted in the annual G.I. Jobs Guide to Military Friendly Schools, distributed in print and digital format to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel in early October.
Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company.
