Rep. Owens Announces Clarkson University and C Speed, LLC Alliance
Last week in Washington, D.C., Congressman Bill Owens congratulated Clarkson University and C Speed, LLC (Liverpool, N.Y.), a high technology engineering and manufacturing company, for their new partnership that leverages the strengths of C Speed’s high-tech product development and manufacturing operations with Clarkson’s resources in advanced materials processing, aerodynamics and renewable energy. Together, the two organizations will establish a technical center in Peyton Hall on Clarkson’s Village Campus.
"The new technical center at Peyton Hall will open up new opportunities for Clarkson students and the rest of the community," said Owens. "We have seen tremendous projects come out of Clarkson aimed at job creation and economic development, and this is no different. Upstate New York colleges and universities have great potential to play a leading role in the region’s economic recovery, and Clarkson continues to tap into this potential in the North Country."
C Speed will employ Clarkson students and leverage the expertise of the company’s engineering team. Subsequent to this initiative, C Speed and Clarkson will focus their efforts on the enhancement of a high technology renewable energy system previously developed and fielded by C Speed. Enhancements will accelerate system deployment opportunities across the United States and overseas.
Clarkson University President Tony Collins said, "This private industry-university partnership advances solutions for our nation’s renewable energy goals by bringing discovery, engineering innovation and commercialization together. It also demonstrates Clarkson’s commitment to use our research enterprise to partner with New York State companies in order to create and keep jobs in our region of New York State."
David Lysack, C Speed’s President, added, "With a third of our employees holding undergraduate or graduate degrees from Clarkson, our team is looking forward to working with the students, faculty and administration at Clarkson to develop technical solutions that will create learning opportunities for students, jobs for New York, and solutions for our customers. We need to put our New York State graduates to work in New York State and keep them here. We need to change New York’s current motto of ’I Loved NY’ back to ’I Love NY’."
Located in Upstate New York, C Speed is an integrated, engineering driven, product development team focused on custom, private label, electronic solutions for its customers. Often providing systems and subsystems in the areas of military defense systems, medical devices, and electronic test and measurement equipment, C Speed manufactures what it designs with a team that is highly comprised of graduates from Clarkson University.
Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in six alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
