Village of Potsdam Proclaims Nov. 1 CommUNITY Day for World in Potsdam Diversity Festival
In celebration of the 17th Annual World in Potsdam Diversity Festival, Village of Potsdam Mayor Ron Tischler has proclaimed this Monday, November 1, as "CommUNITY Day."
The proclamation reads:
"Whereas, Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam and the Village of Potsdam wish to promote diversity and multiculturalism for the educational and economic development of the community; and
"Whereas, these entities are committed to developing and enhancing community relationships among all people; and
"Whereas, the World in Potsdam Diversity Festival to be held November 6th is designed to educate the community about the rich heritage celebrated among the community; and
"Whereas, the Festival’s demonstrations and activities are meant to strengthen communication and understanding throughout the community; and
"Whereas, the World in Potsdam Diversity Festival and its related seminars provide the community with the extraordinary opportunity to explore our diversity within,
"Now, therefore be it resolved that the Village of Potsdam declares Monday, November 1st, 2010, as CommUNITY Day in the Village of Potsdam and encourages all schools, businesses, religious congregations, and service and fraternal organizations to develop programs and activities to highlight the theme of diversity upon this day.
The World in Potsdam Diversity Festival is sponsored by Clarkson University, SUNY Potsdam and the Village of Potsdam, and brings together members of the Potsdam community in celebration of the village’s unique and diverse cultural heritage through music, dance, art and food.
This year’s festival is Saturday, November 6, from noon to 3:30 p.m. in Clarkson University’s new Student Center.
