Clarkson University Instructor Has Art Show in Montreal
Emily Beck, an adjunct instructor of drawing in the Department of Communication & Media at Clarkson University, is currently showcasing her newest exhibition of art at the Articule Gallery in Montreal, Quebec.
Beck’s show, titled "In Reverie, In Sympathy," is running from October 3 to November 2. As an opening for the exhibition, Beck held an artist discussion on October 5, where she discussed her inspiration and answered questions.
According to Beck and Articule, the exhibition focuses on portraits of "women [Beck] finds in the popular media and images of characters conjured up through her literary-inspired imagination."
Beck said, "I’m especially interested in the art historical and contemporary implications of putting a woman on a canvas."
Articule Gallery is an artist-run center dedicated to the presentation of new art practices that are socially and aesthetically engaged. Beck submitted her work to the gallery and was chosen for an exhibition by Articule’s selection committee.
Beck is planning a watercolor series for a future project and possible exhibition.
