Clarkson University Names Library Director
Michelle L. Young has been appointed library director at Clarkson University. Currently college librarian at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Young will begin her duties at Clarkson in January.
As library director, Young will oversee and provide leadership for all aspects of library operations, including the ongoing transformation of the library to meet the changing needs of the faculty, staff and students; strategic long-term planning for the library with involvement of the campus community in establishing and maintaining vision, mission and goals; directing the overall administration of library services in accordance with accreditation agency requirements; and ensuring that library resources are kept secure, relevant to the school's curricula, and available to faculty, staff, and students.
Young attended the State University of New York at Buffalo where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in legal studies and a master of library science degree. She also holds Public Librarian's Certification from the New York State Education Department.
