Xiang Appointed Instructor of Operations and Information Systems at Clarkson University

Chen (Chester) Xiang has been appointed instructor of operations and information systems in the Clarkson University School of Business. He will begin teaching this fall.
Xiang received his bachelor of science degree in automotive engineering at Tsinghua University in Beijing and his master of science in manufacturing and operations systems at Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently completing studies for his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon.
Previous to pursuing graduate studies, Xiang worked for Ford Motor China Ltd. in Beijing as a production systems engineer and as a manufacturing engineer. He participated in the layout development for a new automobile plant in China and led the implementation of a lean manufacturing system. In addition, he was an OSHA certified safety trainer and translated the Chinese edition of Ford Production System handbooks.
He was also an instructor and teaching assistant at Carnegie Mellon.
Xiang has co-written three working papers in the Tepper School of Business. He received the Mellon fellowship at Carnegie Mellon and his research was sponsored by an NSF research grant. He is a member of the Manufacturing & Service Operations Management Society and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.
