Clarkson Crew Team Places First in Regatta
Clarkson University's crew team placed first out of eight competing mixed teams in the seventh oldest regatta race in the nation, the "Head of the Mohawk" held in Niskayuna, N.Y. Clarkson led a 40-second victory over the University at Albany, the defending champions.
"It was amazing to catch up to the defending champs," said Kate Horstman, a junior crew team member. Bradley Buchheit, also a junior, added "I have never rowed so hard in my entire life. We could hear their coxswains screaming at them."
The crew team has been awarded the "I Love My Heart" Cup, which will bear the team's name along with those that have won before them.
The Clarkson crew team also placed first in both men's and women's novice fours, the open women's four, and the novice men's eight. The open men's four placed second overall.
