Clarkson Undergrads Present at IEEE Conference in Saratoga Springs

Three seniors from Clarkson University's Communication and Media department recently presented research at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Professional Communication Conference in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. ieeeresearch

Stefanie Tornow of Rochester, N.Y., and Shelly Upton of Clayton, N.Y., presented research about a Web-based educational platform they created for mathematics teachers in St. Lawrence County, while Adam DeRosa of Clay, N.Y., presented on the public representation of nanotechnology in North American Media. DeRosa's work compared historical science fiction accounts of nanotechnology with eventual innovations in the field.

Tornow and Upton's research was sponsored by the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Education under a federal No Child Left Behind program grant. DeRosa's work is supported by the National Science Foundation.

Communication and Media students have presented their research at Cornell University, University of California, Santa Barbara, Texas Tech University, and at National Conferences in San Francisco and Chicago.
