Clarkson Relay for Life Raises over $26k for the American Cancer Society
Clarkson University Relay for Life Coordinator Karyn L. Blake has announced that the event held on April 7 - 8, raised over $26,000 for the American Cancer Society.
"I am really excited about the enthusiasm that I saw this year," says Blake. "Last year, the Relay raised nearly $13,000 with 19 teams, and this year with 34 teams, the event doubled that amount."
The Clarkson community came together in an overwhelming outpouring of support for the walk. Festivities supporting the cause began on Friday at 8 p.m. The events included basketball, volleyball and poker tournaments, live performances by Clarkson students, and free food provided all evening by Aramark.
"Watching Relay come together, both before and at the event, is always so inspirational. Clarkson's community is filled with diversity in so many ways, but when it comes to Relay everyone unites with one common goal: fighting a disease that we have all suffered from in one way or another," explains Blake.
