Clarkson Fraternity And Sorority Members Team Up With Potsdam Public Library And Middle School To Provide “Homework Helpers” To Potsdam Middle School Students
Clarkson University fraternities and sororities have created a partnership with the Potsdam Public Library to offer free academic assistance to A.A.K. Middle School students in Potsdam.
"The board and I have recognized the need for such a service in our community for quite some time but it was not until we made contact with Jason and some of the student representatives that the possibilities and procedures actually took form, said Musante. We are, however, taking one step at a time since the potential of this program is enormous."
Clarkson University fraternities and sororities must meet high standards of academic performance, conduct and community service. The community has raised over $62,000.00 for charities and performed over 14,000 community service hours since the fall of 2001. In the past fourteen semesters, the all-sorority grade point average has been higher than the all-female average, and the all-fraternity has been higher than the all-male for all but one semester.
To reserve a “seat” in the program, or to learn more, interested students or parents should contact Patricia Musante, Director of the Potsdam Public Library at 265-7230 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org The Potsdam Public Library is located at 2 Park Street in Potsdam or online at www.northnet.org/potsdamlib/
