Clarkson University’s 107th Alumni Reunion will take place July 10-13 on the school’s campus in Potsdam. The event is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the Potsdam Summer Festival and SUNY Potsdam’s Alumni Reunion.
Always a popular event for alumni and friends of Clarkson, this year’s pre registration is higher than past years with well over 1,000 visitors expected to visit the campus throughout the weekend. Reunion attendees are traveling from 33 states and several other countries.
Anthony G. Collins, who officially takes over as Clarkson’s 16th president on July 1, will address alumni during the annual Alumni Awards Brunch on Saturday morning. This will be his first official speech to alumni as president of the University. The Golden Knight and Woodstock awards, the highest alumni honors, will be presented.
The official unveiling of new athletic logos will also be a highlight of this year’s reunion. The public is invited to join alumni, including National Hockey League players Craig Conroy ’95, Todd White ’97, and Erik Cole ’01 and Clarkson Athletic Hall of Fame members Kelly Priestley ’81 and Al Nolet ’78 for the unveiling on Saturday afternoon at noon in the Cheel Campus Center.
Throughout the weekend, reunion participants will have a number of opportunities to enjoy walking tours of the campus and classes, equipment and fruit smoothies at the Deneka Family Fitness Center. The annual Golf Classic sponsored by the athletic department will also take place on Friday morning and walkers and runners can participate in Saturday morning’s Shirley Rogers Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk on the Clarkson campus with 100 percent of the proceeds from the event going to the Shirley Rogers Scholarship Fund.
Members of the Class of 1953 will receive a special welcome for their 50th reunion this year. Mini-Reunions have also been planned for both the Men and Women’s Ice Hockey teams, as well as for the student radio and television stations and the school newspaper.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the weekend, including a Golden Knotes a cappella singing group performance on Saturday, July 12, at 1:30 p.m. in the Cheel Campus Center, and performances by the Infamous Mutt Band on Friday, July 11, and comedian Steven Hofstetter on Saturday, July 12.
