Selected Clarkson University Alumni Reunion Weekend Activities Open To Public July 12-13
Clarkson University’s 106th Alumni Reunion will take place July 11-14 on the school’s campus in Potsdam. The event is scheduled in conjunction with both the Potsdam Summer Festival and SUNY Potsdam’s Alumni Reunion.
Nearly 500 alumni are expected to attend, while approximately 1,100 visitors will be on campus throughout the weekend. Traveling from a variety of locations and representing more than 30 states, alumni are also returning from Canada, the United Kingdom and France.
Fifty-eight members of the Class of 1952 will receive a special welcome as they return for their 50th reunion this year. It’s also President Denny Brown’s last reunion before he retires in June 2003 after eight years of service to the University.
On Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the public is welcome to meet Clarkson hockey alumni. The event, “Life in the NHL,” will take place in the Cheel Campus Center and feature conversation and autographs from Clarkson hockey greats, including Dave Taylor '77 and
Craig Conroy '95. On Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Cheel Arena hockey alumnae and current “Edge” hockey players will take each other on in the “Women’s Alumnae Hockey Game.” Both events are free.
A number of free seminars are also open to the public, including:
- “Why You Don’t Need A Will,” presented by Associate Director of Development Sal Cania, Friday, July 12, 11 a.m. to noon, Cheel Campus Center Barben Rooms C & D;
- “Art and Science of Tiny Particles,” presented by Distinguished University Professor Egon Matijević, Friday, July 12, 3-4 p.m., CAMP Building Room 176;
- “Getting Up to SPEED—Innovation in Engineering Education,” presented by Director of SPEED Tina Yuille, Saturday, July 13, 12:45-1:45 p.m., Cheel Campus Center Barben Rooms C & D;
- “Dr. Jim’s Chemical Magic Show,” presented by Professor Jim Peploski, Saturday, July 13, 12:45-1:45 p.m., Clarkson Science Center Room 362.
