Patricia J. Bailey of Potsdam has been appointed director of Transfer and International Admission at Clarkson University, effective July 1.
Current director Gerald Lambert of Potsdam will leave Clarkson to return to graduate school and become certified as a high school teacher.
Bailey joined Clarkson’s Admission staff in July 1999 as associate director of Undergraduate Admission. She has worked with prospective students from the Long Island, New York City and New Jersey areas.
“Patti's experience in working with administrative staff, faculty, and prospective students and their families will be a strong asset in her new position here at the Office of Admission,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management Suzanne A. Liberty.
Before joining the Admission Office, Bailey served as associate director of Clarkson’s Career and Professional Development Center, marketing the University to corporations and counseling all levels of students in their career exploration and job search process. She also assisted in coordinating the Study Abroad and Cooperative Education programs.
In addition to her Career Center responsibilities, Bailey served as director of the Horizons program, a three-week summer program to encourage seventh and eighth grade girls to pursue careers in math and science.
Previously, she served as director of Residence Life and assistant to the headmaster of The Clarkson School for approximately two years, where she worked with prospective students, conducted admission interviews and attended national and regional college fairs.
Bailey has a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from St. Lawrence University and a master of science in education from Alfred University.
