Clarkson Economics Professor Atesoglu Presents Papers At Boston Conference
Clarkson University Economics Professor H. Sonmez Atesoglu (SOEN-mez Ah-TESH-a-loo) of Potsdam recently presented papers on growth and fluctuations, and monetary policy at the Eastern Economic Association Conference in Boston.
The conference caps a busy spring for Atesoglu. Last month, he spoke on “Post Keynesian Monetary Policy Strategy" as a guest of the Economics Department of the University of Vermont.
In January, he participated in the Central Banking Seminar at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Atesoglu also contributed entries on “balance-of-payments and growth” and "inflation" to the Encyclopedia of Political Economy, published this year by Routledge of London.
Atesoglu teaches courses on money and banking, macroeconomics, international economics, and econometrics. His research focuses on the effects of balance-of-payments on economic growth, and monetary policy and inflation. The former economist at the International Monetary Fund holds a Ph.D. degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
