After 50 Years Clarkson Renews Mid-year Graduation
After half a century of once-a-year graduations, Clarkson University will once again add a mid-year ceremony to its academic calendar. Not since the years following World War II has Clarkson seen two graduation ceremonies in one year. At that time Clarkson was on a three-term schedule in order to graduate students more quickly during the war. Graduation ceremonies were in February and October, returning to one commencement in June 1949. Today, enough students have again requested the mid-year graduation that Clarkson University will renew the tradition, beginning with a recognition dinner on December 12. The 90 students will step up to receive certificates from President Denny Brown. The certificates will be replaced with degrees dated December 1998 after final grades are in.
