Professor Georgina S. Hammock of Ogdensburg has been appointed chair of the Department of Psychology. Professor Hammock joined the Clarkson faculty as an assistant professor in Psychology in 1987 and was promoted to associate professor in 1993. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Dr. Hammock's research interests focus on the perception of harm and the willingness to inflict harm. She has researched variables that influence the use of physical and verbal aggression, the perception of culpability in sexually violent behaviors, and the use of physical and psychological abuse in intimate relationships. "The number of majors in the Department of Psychology is rising rapidly, thanks to the hard work of a number of people," said Vice-President for Academic Affairs Anthony G. Collins. "I am confident that Dr. Hammock's leadership will lead to even more successes in the future."
