Clarkson Economics Professor Presents Paper At Prestigious Conference
Clarkson University Economics Professor H. Sonmez Atesoglu (SOON-mez Ah-TESH-a-loo) recently presented a paper at the Fifth Post Keyenesian Workshop, cosponsored by the Center for Full Employment and Price Stability in Knoxville, Tenn., and the University of Tennessee. The June workshop, at which Atesoglu was invited to present his paper, was attended by academics and professionals from the United States and many other countries.
Atesoglu's paper [see recent Clarkson News Tip titled "Clarkson Professor's Study: Full National Employment and Elimination of Trade Deficit Are Mutually Exclusive"] examines the issue of simultaneous achievement of full-employment and a balanced current account in the U.S. economy. His findings from an econometric analysis of the U.S. economy indicate that although full employment is possible, a balanced current account position is not feasible with current international institutional arrangements.
Atesoglu was also recently added to the Anbar Electronic Intelligence "Management Hall of Fame" for papers with the best research implications. The Anbar Web site includes the world's best management authors and their articles. Atesoglu was named to the Hall of Fame for a paper he wrote, titled "On The Dynamics of Balance of Payments Constrained Growth." Professor Donald H. Dutkowsky of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University coauthored the paper. More than 40,000 articles have been evaluated since early 1996 to establish the Hall of Fame. [019-98]
