Hopke's Committee Commended By Congress
The House Appropriation Committee has commended a National Academy of Science (NAS) Committee on which Clarkson University Professor Philip Hopke serves. The House committee's report stated: NAS assembled an extraordinary group of science and medical professionals who produced a very high-quality report ... well within the exceedingly short time-frame requested by the Congress. The NAS panel of experts, as well as the excellent staff who devoted hundreds of hours to this effort, are to be commended for their hard work and for the exemplary report they produced." Hopke is one of seven members of the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC), who presented to Congress the committee's review of the EPA's research plans for airborne particulate matter and ozone. The House will most likely be handing more work to the NAS Particulate Matter Committee and will ask them to work with CASAC. Hopke serves on both committees.
