Potsdam, N.Y. – Backcountry skiing and snowboarding will come alive at Clarkson University on Friday through an entertaining blend of routes, people, and history that's sure to leave everyone with a smile– and a yen for wild snow. The "Wild Snow Show" will be presented at MidKnights in Clarkson's Cheel Campus Center on Friday, March 27, at 8:00 p.m. This event, sponsored by the Clarkson Union Board, Campus Programming and the Outing Club, is free and open to the public.Wild Snow Show

The Wild Snow Show is a multimedia presentation by back country expert Louis Dawson. Prepare to be thrilled by the sights and sounds of back country adventure, presented by one of the country's leading authorities on the sport. See rare photographs of historic descents, like Bill Brigg's ground-breaking 1971 ski descent down the jagged Grand Teton in Wyoming. Get the background you need to repeat awesome descents yourself. Or, if hair-raising steeps aren't your thing, check out some of North America's more accessible, but no less exciting descents. Ski or board off Hayden Peak, Colorado, descend Mt. Rainier, Washington, or link perfect turns in virgin Utah powder.

With over 300 historic and inspirational slides and a professionally produced soundtrack, Dawson will talk live about the people and the routes that are the essence of ski and snowboard mountaineering. The one-hour show includes door-prize giveaways and a signing of Dawson's latest book, Wild Snow, on which the show is based.

Forty-five-year-old Dawson was raised in Aspen, Colorado, climbed his first peak at age nine, and hasn't stopped since. His skiing and mountain-climbing adventures range worldwide. Over three decades he's blended skiing, climbing, and writing to become one of North America's best known and most prolific ski mountaineers. Dawson's first book was published 12 years ago. Since then, he's authored Colorado 10th Mountain Trails, the two award winning volumes of Dawson's Guide to Colorado's Fourteeners, and now, Wild Snow. Come visit with a guru of mountain adventure. The Wild Snow Show is just the thing to get you psyched for your next winter escapade.

The Wild Snow show is proudly sponsored by Black Diamond Equipment, Solstice Clothing, Coulier magazine, Backcountry Access, Rock & Ice magazine and the American Alpine Club Press.
