Clarkson University Names New Chief Information Officer: Will Supervise Computing, Library And Media Technologies

Potsdam, N.Y. – Clarkson University has appointed Elizabeth A. Rivet as the school's new Chief Information Officer (CIO). The CIO, a member of the president's cabinet, oversees academic and administrative computing, libraries and media technologies. Rivet, who is currently the executive director of Information Technology at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., will begin her duties at Clarkson this spring.
Dr. Rivet's extensive background in information technology will aid us as we continually enhance Clarkson's reputation as a high-tech institution where we foster the management of technology, said Anthony G. Collins, vice president for Academic Affairs. "We will certainly benefit from her experience in the strategic planning of campus technologies. I look forward to working closely with her."
I thank Greg Campbell for the tireless effort he has contributed to the institution as the acting CIO, said Collins. "A bright futures lies ahead for us and this is in no small part due to Greg and the hard and dedicated work of his staff."
Rivet's previous experience includes a variety of positions at the University of New Hampshire where she was, among other appointments, manager of Large Systems Applications Support, manager of Technical Support Services and assistant director for Networked and Public Information Systems. In both of her last two positions she held responsibilities off-campus for state-wide initiatives and is a recognized participant at national professional societies.
Rivet has a Ph.D. in education from the University of New Hampshire and master of science and bachelor of science degrees in mathematics from Marquette University. Her Ph.D. research focused on the role of technology at institutions of higher education.
