Clarkson/Rensselaer Hockey Tilt To Be Shown Via Satellite Nationally February 13
With home ice, sufficient motivation, and perhaps superstition on their side, the Rensselaer Engineers will host the Clarkson Golden Knights in men’s hockey action on Friday, Feb. 13, at Houston Fieldhouse in Troy, N.Y.
The game will be broadcast live via satellite for the ninth consecutive year to alumni of both schools at 44 sites all across the United States, thanks to the joint efforts of the Clarkson and Rensselaer Alumni Associations.
The annual satellite telecast captures all of the spirit of one of college hockey’s most intense rivalries. This year’s telecast is no exception, as fans and alumni of both schools will not only converge in Troy, but in various locations coast-to-coast, including Potsdam. Clarksonians will root for a season sweep of Rensselaer, while Engineer boosters hope that their team can exact some revenge for an 11-0 rout inflicted by Clarkson on Nov. 22.
Events get underway at 7:00 p.m. EST with a pre-game show. The puck drops at 7:30. Clarkson athletic Geoff Brown ’72 will provide the Clarkson color commentary for the broadcast.
"One of the premiere programming events for the Alumni Association each year is the hockey telecast to alumni throughout the country," said Don Dangremond '72, Clarkson University executive director of the Alumni and Parent Associations. "It is a wonderful evening that brings Clarkson and Rensselaer alumni together to enjoy the live hockey action and the spirit and tradition of the rivalry between two great teams, regardless of where you live."
Cities in which the game will be telecast include: Atlanta; Baltimore, Buffalo, NY; Charlotte NC; Chicago; Cincinnati; Costa Mesa (Orange County), CA; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; East Hanover, NJ; Ft. Myers, FL; Hartford, CT; Houston; Jericho (Long Island), NY; Manchester/Nashua, NH; Minneapolis; Norfolk, VA; Orlando, FL; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Pittsburgh; Portland, ME; Portland, OR; Raleigh, NC; Richmond, VA; Rochester, NY; St. Louis; San Diego; San Jose, CA; Seattle; Syracuse, NY; Tampa, FL; Washington, DC; White Plains (Westchester County), NY; and Wilmington, NC.
