Clarkson's Internet Consulting Group Provides Staff Development At Salmon River Central School
Clarkson University's student-run Internet Consulting Group (ICG) held two hands-on computer workshops at Salmon River Central School this month. The workshops, titled "Internet K-12 Teachers," are a major component of an outreach program supported in part by funds from the U.S. Department of Education for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE).
The workshops, which focused on using e-mail and browsing the Web for learning resources, provided staff development to Internet beginners and those interested in incorporating computers and computer technology into their classes. High School Principal John Simons also participated in the workshops.
The Internet Consulting Group, consisting of Clarkson students studying computers and the Internet, provides training for schools and businesses through workshops which offer staff development and community outreach.
The group adviser is Professor Ron Chorba of the School of Business. For more information about Clarkson's Internet Consulting Group, check its web site at http://phoenix.som.clarkson.edu/~icg, email them at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Professor Chorba at 315-268-6435.
