Swedish College President Visits Clarkson University
Potsdam, N.Y. – Ingegerd Palmer, the president of Lulea University in Sweden, recently visited Clarkson University. During her stay in Potsdam, she met with Clarkson's president, Denny Brown.
Not only did this provide me with an opportunity to present Clarkson and what we do, but I also found great pleasure in exchanging ideas with a university administrator from another country, says Brown. "Clarkson and Lulea have had a successful exchange program for some years now, but President Palmer and I have not had the opportunity to meet before."
Palmer toured Clarkson University guided by a Clarkson Campus Guide, as well as by some of the Swedish students attending Clarkson. Palmer was especially interested in the Career Development Center, since Lulea just opened one of the first Swedish equivalents, following the Clarkson model. She also expressed strong interest in the new Honors Program and stopped to chat with Professor David Craig, director of the Honors Program.
Palmer says that she found her visit very informative. She hopes that the exchange of students and faculty between the schools will continue to be successful. "Developing a Career Center at Lulea University after learning about it from Clarkson, proves that there is a lot of knowledge that we can exchange" says Palmer. "I am looking forward to continuing to cultivate this relationship."
