Research Interests
Dr. Morrison is currently performing research on the fundamental mechanisms of cyclic plasticity. Special emphasis is placed on the effects of processing variables and microstructure on cyclic hardening and fatigue crack initiation. Work has been done on the effects of grain size on the cyclic deformation behavior of pure nickel. More recent work has concentrated on the relationships between single crystal and polycrystal cyclic behavior, the manifestation of magnetomechanical effects during cyclic deformation, and cyclic plasticity of ultrafine grain materials. Other recent research areas have addressed electronic component reliability and fatigue of metal foams. More information can be found on his research Web site.
