Mobilization and demobilization (a.k.a. mob/demob, "shipping out") will be from Fort Niagara Beach, New York, approximately 40 minutes from downtown Buffalo, NY.
Foul Weather Gear
September is a summer month and calm seas are expected. However, a windbreaker, sunblock and raincoat are adviseable. Steel-toed rubber boots are available for heavy work on the deck. Regular boots are suitable for light deck work (no open sandals are permitted on deck or in the lab).
Cabins will be shared with at least one other participant. Cabins are attached to washrooms complete with shower stall. A laundry (machine and dryer) are available for use (no charge). Full meals are provided three times daily; any specific dietary preeferences or restrictions should be forwarded to the contact.
About the R/V Lake Guardian
The R/V Lake Guardian is a modern limnological research platform. A complete description (dimensions, scientific labs, scientific equipment, sampling gear) can be obtained from the ship's website. In addition, analytical and sampling equipment will be brought onboard for uses specific to the mission of this cruise.
