Orientation
All new international students will engage in an international orientation session. This session is to assist you in understanding the immigration guidelines to which you must adhere to. Following are important times and reminders specific to International Students - you should consult your program orientation for other events and activities.

Upon arrival you will be required to 'check-in' with the International Students & Scholars Office. This is to confirm your arrival to Clarkson within SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System). Please be sure to bring the following items with you...
- I-20 - Certificate of Eligibility
- Passport
- Visa
- I-94 - Arrival/Departure Card (small white card typically attached to your visa)
- Address where you are living in Potsdam
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - (Following are activities related to Graduate International Students - please consult your program orientation guides for additional graduate school information.)
11:30 - 1pm - Graduate International Student Orientation. We will have lunch - meet other new international students to Clarkson and discuss important immigration/visa information. (Cheel Student Center - Barben Rooms A/B)
1 - 3pm - ESL Testing for Graduate International Students. (Science Center 162)
All incoming students for whom English is a second language, will be tested. This test will focus primarily on academic writing for University level courses or professional use. This is a mandatory excam and those students needing additional English will be required to take the recommended ESL course(s).
NOTE: MBA students will take on Thursday, August 20 from 8 - 10:30 am in 169 B.H. Snell Hall
NOTE: Chemistry students will take on Thursday, August 20 from 1 - 3 pm in 214 B.H. Snell Hall

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - Residence Halls open for those living on campus. If you arrive after the close of business - please contact Campus Safetly to gain entrance to your dorm room. NOTE - your meal plans will not begin until Friday, August 21 - please be prepared to purchase meals on your own as needed.

Note - Transportation may be provided by the Undergraduate Admissions Office and/or the International Education Office. Please be sure to confirm your information with those offices.
Wednesday, August 19 -
The morning and early afternoon will be free to settle in your room - make trips to local stores for supplies and/or visit the Lending Cupboard to 'borrow' items for the year.
4 - 6 pm - New International Student Mixer. Meet other new international students from around the world in a relaxed setting - and later - PIZZA! (Cheel Student Center - Barben Rooms C/D) Note: This event is reserved for new undergraduate and exchange students.
Thursday, August 20 - While the rest of the campus is 'moving-in' - today will be filled with international specific activities for all new international students. Your attendance is mandatory.
10 a.m. - Noon - Undergraduate/Exchange International Student Orientation (Cheel Student Center - Barben Rooms A/B)
All new international students are required to attend. This session will not only introduce you to other new international students @ Clarkson but will also give you valuable information to assist you in making correct choices to maintain your student status.
A light continental breakfast will be served - so COME AND ENJOY!
