The International Students & Scholars Office (ISSO), as well as the entire faculty and staff, welcomes you to Clarkson University. The role of this office is to help you with the number of regulations that you are subject to and to ensure that you fulfill your legal obligations. It is very important that you take the time to understand your responsibilities associated with your exchange visitor (J-1) status.

The overal purpose and objective of the Exchange Visitor category is to "increase mutual understanding between people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchanges." Mutual Educational and Culturual Exchange Act (Fulbright-Hayes Act) of 1961.
