Curricular Practical Training

In this Section
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is defined as an academically integrated part of a credit-bearing course.

This employment can be defined as alternate work and/or study, an internship, a required cooperative education agreement arranged with the approval of your program or any type of cooperative agreement between a sponsoring employer and Clarkson University.

Part time CPT may take place during the academic year and full time CPT can be authorized during the summer. All curricular practical training MUST be undertaken prior to the completion of a program of study.

Important note: Due to the fact that USCIS uses a broad definition of employment - any activity for which a student receives a benefit, monetary or otherwise - including unpaid internships or volunteering require CPT authorization.
