Honors Committees

Committees

Students participate in the governance of the Honors Program with their committees and by membership on the Honors Council. This structure ensures that students have a voice and a share in directing the program and its future.

  • The Steering Committee serves as a liaison between the Honors Council, the Honors Program office, the student body and the subcommittees. It addresses policy issues when needed, and conducts general meetings of the student body. It also provides oversight to the actions of its four subcommittees.
  • Service: The main responsibility of the Service Committee is to provide students with the opportunity to fulfill their service graduation requirement. This is done through various committee actions, which include organizing service activities, hearing proposals for alternative service projects, and keeping participation records for each student in the program.
  • Relations: The Relations Committee organizes volunteers for Honors Program orientation, open houses, and other student recruitment events and alumni activities.
  • Activities: The Activities Committee organizes seasonal program get-togethers, casual events, and large group trips.
  • Multimedia: The Multimedia Committee maintains the program's Web page, computers and other electronic equipment.
