Awards - Scholarship, Leadership and Service
Honors students are consistently recognized for outstanding scholarship and for their leadership and service within the campus community. Since 2000, for example, 11 have won a Barry M. Goldwater Fellowship, the premier national award for undergraduate students pursuing careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. On the other hand, Honors students are actively engaged in a wide variety of campus organizations and activities. Each year they receive numerous awards on University Recognition Day for their exceptional leadership and service in the broader campus community.
In addition to its talented students, the Honors Program also attracts outstanding, dedicated faculty. To acknowledge such individuals, the students initiated The Kristin Craig Faculty Recognition Award. It is presented annually to a professor whose Honors participation exemplifies qualities such as perseverance, self-sacrifice and a contribution to something greater than oneself.
