Craig Woodworth, Professor of Biology:The Honors students chose Professor Craig Woodworth as the recipient of this year’s Kristin Craig Faculty Recognition Award. In his acknowledgment speech, senior Dan Marker credited Professor Woodworth with teaching him how to think like a scientist.
"Four years ago, I entered Clarkson University with a major in bio-molecular science, without having any clue as to what, exactly, “science” was. Like many of you, my science background had consisted of step-by-step high school experiments, which either resulted in turning a perfectly good clear solution purple, or cleaning up a rather worse-for-the-wear frog corpse. Needless to say, when I entered a real research lab in only the second semester of my freshman year, I was in way over my head. Fortunately for me, however, I had somehow managed to stumble into the exact place I needed to be, with, most importantly, the right mentor. Professor Craig Woodworth was able to take what little experience I had and begin to mold it into something resembling an actual scientist. Thanks to his guidance, I was able to maximize the knowledge I gained out of every class and lab experience, and integrate it into an actual scientific mindset.”
