Honors Program

Associate Honors Director John Moosbrugger

When Professor John Moosbrugger of the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Department agreed to become the Associate Director of the Honors Program, Professor Ackermann, chair of the search committee, pronounced him a homerun replacement. Professor Moosbrugger has previously served a term as chair of the MAE Department and is the advisor of the SAE Team and the ASME Student Chapter. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology and has taught at Clarkson since 1989. At Clarkson, he has won five teaching or faculty recognition awards, including being a co-recipient of a Boeing Outstanding Educator Award in 2001.

Dr. Moosbugger's research focuses on plasticity and viscoplasticity of materials, including analytical/phenomenological modeling of nonproportional (biaxial), cyclic loading experiments, performing biaxial experiments, nonisothermal viscoplasticity model development for metals and thermomechanical behavior of semiconductor materials. Professor Moosbrugger's chief responsibilities will be to direct the Honors research program.
