The Clarkson Honors Program & School
On July 1, we officially joined The Clarkson School and became the Clarkson Honors Program & School. Our mission is to attract more top ability students to Clarkson and to increase the opportunities for enrichment, acceleration, and research early in students' careers. We also hope to affect Clarkson's culture, as the Honors Program already has done, in making undergraduate research such an important part of the university's culture. Our goal will be to help Clarkson become a place where talented students can do exceptional things early in their college careers. President Collins says that CHP&S will eventually become the Clarkson Honors College. As steps toward that end, the Honors Program will have a large part in the University's coming capital campaign (perhaps as high as $5,000,000) and we expect to have new shared facilities in the next two or three years. There will be offices for The Clarkson School and Honors personnel, a seminar room, an Honors lounge, and, perhaps, a good-sized classroom like ERC110.
