Applying to the Program

Students interested in applying for the Graduate DPT Program must complete or satisfy the following requirements.

  • Applicants must satisfy all of the Clarkson University requirements for Graduate students:
    • A completed application form and official transcripts of all your college coursework to the Division of Health Science.
    • Three references (available with the application packet) and/or separate letters of evaluation.
    • Completion of the general Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Scores of 550 (each) or above are recommended.
    • TOEFL scores are required of all international applicants whose native language is not English.
    • Full-time applicants to the Graduate School from within the U.S. and Canada are required to pay a $25 application fee (US funds). All other full-time applicants are required to pay a $35 application fee. This fee cannot be waived or deferred, except as follows. The fee will be waived for applicants from within the U.S. and Canada who apply for admission before July for the following spring semester. Applications received without the fee are not forwarded to the department for review. They are immediately made inactive.

  • The Physical Therapy graduate program requires that the students have the following prerequisites (grades of B or above recommended, C or above required):
    • Biological Science with laboratory (2 semesters)
    • Physics with laboratory (2 semesters) equivalent to mechanics and electricity & magnetism
    • Chemistry with laboratory (2 semesters)
    • Statistics (1 semester)
    • Psychology (3 semesters) equivalent to Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology and Developmental Psychology
    • Pre-PT Healthcare Courses (3 semesters)

  • Documentation of at least 30 hours of volunteer or observation experience with a health care provider; while any health care environment is acceptable, PT is preferred.
