Have you thought about what your legacy will be? How will you be remembered? What impact will you leave behind?
The Annie Clarkson Society is here to help you navigate the sometimes murky waters of leaving a financial legacy. We are here to educate and serve alumni, parents, and friends as you explore your relationship to Clarkson.
That is exactly what Annie Clarkson did. The niece of Thomas Clarkson, she was instrumental in founding Clarkson University in 1896, and was also crucial in its survival. In the 1920’s Annie gave large areas of land to the school, as well as her ancestral home, Holcroft house. She also gave annual gifts to the College. When she died, the bulk of her estate came to the College, valued at over $1.2 million (nearly $17 million in 2017 dollars).
Established in 1993, and renamed to the Annie Clarkson Society in 2007, the Society helps carry forward Annie’s passionate philanthropic journey and honors those who plan deferred gifts, as well as outright gifts to Clarkson. The Society also offers membership to those who have created lifelong relationships at Clarkson by establishing endowments at the University.
The mission of the Annie Clarkson Society is to ensure the Clarkson experience for students today and tomorrow. The Annie Society allows us to join Annie through our own individual philanthropic legacies as together we ensure the Clarkson experience.
