Roth Fund for Student Startups
The Roth Fund for Student Startups provides up to $25,000 in seed funding and mentorship to startups formed by Clarkson University students while enrolled in undergraduate programs. The primary purpose of the funds will be to complete “proof of concept” including prototyping, capitalization, beta testing, and other related activities including but not limited to personnel, research, and stipends. The fund is managed by the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship, which provides mentorship to students selected. Student startups chosen for funding receive 50% grant funding and 50% loan funding at a negotiated interest rate and payback schedule.
The 2012 recipient of the Roth Fund was Innovative Delivery Systems, whose smart phone app, OrdrIT™ enables attendees to order concessions items from their phone and have it delivered to their seat or available for pick up at the nearest OrdrIT™ concession stand express lane. The team has won over $50,000 since founding their company in their first year at Clarkson, read more here and watch their video below.
