Clarkson University maintains a mandated Biosafety Committee consisting of 5 members, one of which must be the University Safety Officer. Other members are faculty and staff who have expertise in safe handling and use of recombinant DNA and infectious agents technology; two members must be unaffiliated with Clarkson and represent the interests of the surrounding community with respect to health and protection of the environment. The Chair of the Committee on Biosafety is a tenured faculty member.
If you intend to use recombinant DNA, infectious agents, or other biohazards in your research or teaching, you must prepare and submit an application to the Biosafety Committee. The Committee meets as needed. Contact the Director of Research for more information.
