Compliance - Animal Subjects


Clarkson University recognizes its responsibility to ensure the humane and appropriate care and use of all live vertebrate animals used or intended for use in research, research training, experimentation, biological testing, or teaching.  Therefore, the University has established and provides resources for an Animal Care and Use Program and an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) that oversees the program, facilities, policies, and procedures.

To conduct animal subjects research in which Clarkson University is a participant, follow these steps:

  • Read the Clarkson University Policy on Research with Animal Subjects (.doc 30 KB)
  • When familiar with Clarkson's policy, take the CITI Program Laboratory Animal Welfare Training Course - Click here for instructions. You must successfully complete this training to conduct animal research at Clarkson. Once you have completed the course notify the IACUC Coordinator, Adele Puglise at apugliese@clarkson.edu
  • After you have read Clarkson's policy and completed the training above, prepare and submit the IACUC protocol application one week prior to scheduled meeting date to the  IACUC Coordinator, Adele Pugliese at apugliese@clarkson.edu.

IACUC Meeting Dates
IACUC meetings are typically scheduled on a semi-annual basis; March and September. IACUC protocol applications are due at least one week prior to scheduled meeting date.
