Meal Plan Options

Declining Balance (DB) – These are dining dollars that you can spend at any of our campus dining locations. You can add to your DB at any time. It rolls over from the fall to spring semester and can be used until May graduation.

Board Meals – This plan resets each week on Saturday mornings. Meals can be used to enter the dining hall for an all-you-care-to-eat meal or as a “meal equivalency” swipe at designated retail dining venues.

Block Meals – This plan has a number of meals that declines as you use them during the semester. Meals can be used to enter the dining hall for an all-you-care-to-eat meal or as a “meal equivalency” swipe at designated retail dining venues located in downtown Potsdam.

The Golden Knight
This plan provides 21 board meals per week plus $25 in DB that can be used in any retail dining outlet on campus. This plan provides breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday morning through Friday night and is the highly recommended plan for incoming freshmen.

The All Northern
This plan provides 200 block meals plus $75 in DB that can be used at any retail dining outlet on campus. On average, this plan offers two meals per day, five days a week, which makes it important to keep track of the usage. Students can find out how many meals are remaining by asking a cashier for a receipt or by visiting the Dining Service Office.

Platinum Dining
This plan provides 150 block meals (which averages seven to 10 meals per week) plus $225 in DB that can be used at any retail dining outlet on campus.

The Sandstoner
This plan offers seven board meals that reset each week during the semester (averaging one meal per day), 50 block meals and $275 in DB that can be used at any retail outlet.

Emerald Dining
This option provides five meals that reset each week during the semester (averaging one meal per weekday), 20 block meals and $425 in DB that can be used at any retail dining outlet on campus.  

A semester rate of $3,353 applies for each option above.

The Pioneer
This is a voluntary meal plan available to undergraduate and graduate students who are living in campus apartments and townhouses or for those living off-campus that commute. It includes 50 block meals and $500 in DB. The meals and DB roll over from the fall semester to the spring semester. The plan costs $1,022 and is subject to New York State sales tax. The Pioneer can be purchased as many times as needed during the academic year.

Meal plans can be changed during the first two weeks of each semester, and a usage report can be requested at any time by visiting the Dining Services Office in Cheel Campus Center.

You may use your DB to treat a friend to a meal, but your board and block meals are only for you to enjoy and are non-transferrable.

The Knight Card, Mastercard, Visa and cash are accepted at all dining locations on campus.

Campus Dining Locations

Student Center Servery (located on the upper level of the Student Center)
The Servery is retail location featuring made-to-order food and includes stations with grill favorites, pasta, panini sandwiches, soups, salads, pizza and international grill entrées. You can choose something new everyday. The Servery accepts cash, DB, meal equivalency, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.

Hours: Monday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Java City Café (located on the first floor of the Student Center)
Java City Café offers a variety of hot, cold and blended specialty beverages, as well as pastries, grab-and-go salads, sandwiches and snacks. Java City Café accepts cash, DB, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.

Hours: Monday through Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

P.O.D. Market (located on the lower level of the Student Center)
The P.O.D. Market is a campus grocery store where you can purchase snacks, beverages, frozen meals, F’real milkshakes, rotisserie chicken, toiletries and more. The P.O.D. accepts cash, DB, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.

Hours: Monday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to midnight

Ross-Brooks (residential dining hall)
Ross-Brooks, which is commonly called RoBro, is an all-you-care-to-eat dining hall that offers a variety of cutting-edge American entrées, ethnic-inspired foods and vegetarian selections. Enjoy home-cooked favorites, grilled sandwiches, fresh burgers, specialty fries, pizza, paninis, soups, salads, desserts and more. Ross-Brooks accepts meal equivalency, cash, DB, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.

Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Ross-Brooks Late Night
Ross-Brooks turns into a retail dining facility for a late-night option. The grill offers a variety of grilled sandwiches, fresh burgers and specialty fries. Enjoy pizza, rolletos, appetizers, wings, milkshakes and smoothies. Don’t want to leave your room? No problem — Late Night delivers! Ross-Brooks Late Night accepts cash, DB, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.

Hours: Monday through Sunday (late night), 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Main Street Café (located on the main floor of Cheel Arena)
The Main Street Café food court offers several different options. Subway will make you a tasty sub. Main Street Grill serves up juicy Angus burgers with local beef, free-range chicken sandwiches and veggie burgers. The Smokehouse has home-style foods like carved meats, mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables. For those looking for a lighter meal, Main Street also offers homemade soups, specialty salads, sandwiches and snacks, all available to go for those on the run. Entrepreneur Coffee, a Clarkson Student-based business, is proudly brewed here.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Concrete Café (located on the third floor of the Science Center)
The Concrete Café is designed for students who are on the go or heading to their next class. Choose from homemade soups, gourmet sandwiches and salads, fruit and cheese or a great cup of Entrepreneur Coffee. Concrete Café accepts cash, DB, meal equivalency, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Healthy Pantry (located in Hamlin-Powers)
This is a convenient café and snack bar for those living in Hamlin-Powers or walking to and from downtown Potsdam. Enjoy a variety of grab-n-go breakfast and lunch items, including specialty sandwiches, salads, fruit, cheese, yogurt and homemade desserts. Entrepreneur Coffee is also proudly brewed here. The Healthy Pantry accepts cash, DB, meal equivalency, Knight Card, Mastercard and Visa.
