The Honors Program has its own sports league, with activities as diverse as bocce ball and Ultimate Frisbee. Honors students have also been
national championship athletes, campus newspaper editors and SPEED team captains.
Honors activities and traditions:
Annual Orientation Welcome Picnic and Signing of the Honors Program Roll Book, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream nights,
pumpkin carving, annual solstice dinner and party at the director’s house, Adopt-A-Highway, etiquette dinner, and Commencement Brunch for the graduates.
Recent Honors awards scorecard:
Barry M. Goldwater Research Fellowships (25 winners and 3 honorable mentions in 14 years); National Science
Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships (11 winners and 6 honorable mentions in the last 5 years).
