Student with his degree

A December Recognition Ceremony is held for students who meet degree requirements in the Fall term and who do not expect to participate in the May ceremony; these graduates may also notify SAS if they change their plans and want to participate in the May commencement ceremony.

Held the day after the last final exams end, the December Ceremony recognizes this student milestone in a ceremony with the Dean and faculty of the School or Institute representing your major.

December's event does not include a full commencement with a cap and gown, faculty procession, or formal hooding ceremony.  Diplomas are sent to graduates after all grades are submitted by faculty and confirmed by a vote of the Faculty and the Board of Trustees.  These are typically mailed in late February /early March.
