2015 December Recognition Ceremony

In this Section

The December Recognition Ceremony will take place on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Schuler Indoor Recreation Center (IRC). There are no tickets issued for guests to this ceremony, however, the May ceremony currently is limited to four (4) tickets per graduate.

DECEMBER CEREMONY PARTICIPATION On the day after December final exams end, the University holds a special Recognition Ceremony for graduates who are NOT planning to return to the May Commencement. Cap and Gowns are required for this event as well as Commencement. Please note that if you attend the December ceremony, you will not be invited to attend the May Commencement. If you plan to participate in the Spring ceremony, you do not need to do anything further at this time. All graduates will be in the same ceremony located in the Indoor Recreation Complex. Regalia is required for this event. The ceremony will include a stage for graduates to cross that requires you to first climb stairs. If you are not able to climb stairs, please let us know by November 20 so that I can accommodate your need.

If you have guests coming that have mobility concerns or need handicap accessibility (wheelchairs, oxygen tanks, etc.) or special parking considerations, contact me

Student with his degree

A December Recognition Ceremony is held for students who meet degree requirements in the Fall term and who do not expect to participate in the May ceremony; these graduates may also notify SAS if they change their plans and want to participate in the May commencement ceremony. Held the day after the last final exams end, the December Ceremony recognizes this student milestone in a ceremony with the Dean and faculty of the School or Institute representing your major.

This information is important to you and your families if you plan to participate in a ceremony to mark the completion of your degree. There is a November 2, 2014 deadline to order cap and gown for people who plan to participate in the December ceremony.
