Computer-aided image processing techniques are developed as a tool to quantify microstructures, quantification of microcracking and its influence on thermomechanical properties of carbon-carbon composites, mechanics of coating cracks in high temperature material coatings, quantify woven reinforcement yarn shape and how it affects mechanical properties, such as interlaminar shear strength, role of fiber misalignment as a quality control issue in resin matrix composite prepreg.
