Students taking classes outside on the Clarkson campus

First Year Seminar

First Year Seminar (FYS) is a comprehensive program required of all freshmen at Clarkson University .   It is a ten week course offered in the first semester that helps first year students become better acquainted with University life.

Students meet once a week and are broken into small groups within their class.  A peer educator is assigned to facilitate the activities of each group.  The course allows for discussion and presentation with faculty and outside experts as well.  This course helps first year students adjust to college life,  make healthy decisions,  build teamwork,  and improve communication skills that they can take with them on their journey over four years at Clarkson.
