Philosophy of Counseling:

Using over 25 years of clinical education and practice, I see myself as a guide helping each student to reach their potential.  An analogy I use, based on my love of hiking, is that each of us has a mountain to climb; a mountain named in our honor that as we climb higher and higher, gives us a clearer view of our lives and our relationship to others.  As a guide, I do not have the answers, but I can provide support; help overcome obstacles; provide advice; validate feelings, and when necessary, gently confront.  It is their journey and they have the answers and it is my job to help them reach their destination.

Biography:

My professional career began as a math and science teacher working in public and private schools in New York, Australia, and Venezuela.  For the past 20 years, I have worked in the behavioral healthcare field and joined Clarkson in February ’06.  I have travelled extensively in Australia; New Zealand; Southeast Asia; Central America and South America.  My wife, a dog, two cats, and I live on 54 acres of land in upstate New York gardening, beekeeping, and pretending to be farmers.  I enjoy hiking, biking – motorcycle and pedal, gardening, writing, reading – including a guilty pleasure for science fiction and fantasy, and travelling.
