The Clarkson Chat

Meet Clarkson Student, Suzanne Van Arsdale '10
Major: Double Major in Biology and Psychology; Dual Degree in Biomolecular Science
Minor: Cognitive Neuroscience
Where I'm From: Castile, NY- 4.5 hours from Clarkson and 1 hour from Rochester and Buffalo
Why I chose Clarkson: I enrolled in the Clarkson School, a program that let me attend college in lieu of my senior year of high school. I was accepted at other universities, but the opportunities at Clarkson convinced me to stay. Professors accommodated my overloaded classes, it was easy to get involved with the extra-curriculars and community, and the research opportunities for undergraduates were especially abundant compared to those at other institutions.
I Like: Playing piano, solving Rubik's cubes, romance languages, travel, console gaming and the n64, Dungeons and Dragons, and a cappella.
What's hot on my plate: I am currently working under Professor/Chair of Biology Ed Moczydlowski on a tentative Honors thesis project on the KcsA ion channel and its interactions with quaternary ammoniums. Over the summer I worked with Professor/Chair of Psychology Robert Dowman on an electrophysiological study of attending towards threat.
Clubs and Activities:
Secretary of Golden Knotes, a cappella group
Secretary of the Clarkson Jazz Ensemble
Secretary of Tri-Beta, National Biology Honors Society
News Editor of the Integrator
