IMPORTANCE OF GIVING

Endowment Funds:  Our department strives to graduate excellent civil and environmental engineers. Our ability to provide student scholarships and awards, teaching awards, and funds to recognize faculty come mainly from endowment funds. These funds provide annual revenue for these purposes. The following funds need your support to build the endowments to viable levels.

Ackermann Award Fund

Cash awards are given to two students, one in the sophomore and one in the junior class of CEE with greatest promise for academic success. The award honors Norbert L. Ackermann, a long-time faculty member and Chair of CEE.

James K. Edzwald Professor of Environmental Engineering

The professorship will recognize a faculty member for their scholarly contributions to drinking water and water chemistry. The fund will provide support for the faculty member and a graduate student.

Howard Lechler Director in Construction Engineering Management (CEM)

This fund provides salary and support for the Director, Erik Backus. The CEM Program had its official start in 1998, and has been nationally recognized for its leadership in the construction industry for many years.

Charles Martin Clark Memorial Prize

This prize goes to a senior in CEE of outstanding scholarship and character, possessing qualifications for a successful professional career.
