The Green Data Center’s kickoff meeting was held at Clarkson University

The Green Data Center

Participants of the Green Data Center’s kickoff meeting held at Clarkson on January 26, 2012, are greeted by Clarkson University President Anthony Collins.  Clarkson is leading a cutting edge project on green data center computing. The project involves five faculty members: Professor Pier Marzocca (of Clarkson’s Department of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering), Professor and Executive Officer Kerop Janoyan (of Clarkson’s Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering), Professor Ajit Achuthan (of Clarkson’s Department of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering), Professor Jeanna Matthews (of Clarkson’s Department of Mathematics & Computer Science), and Professor Stephen Bird (of Clarkson’s Department of Humanities & Social Sciences).  This project is the result of NYSERDA partnering with Clarkson, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), and others to demonstrate the feasibility of deploying a network of modular Performance Optimized Datacenters (PODs) that are geographically distributed to exploit the availability of renewable energy for their operation.
