CAMP/Clarkson Joins NY- BESTTM Consortium
On March 9th and 10th, 2010 in Troy, NY, the NY-BESTTM (The New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology) Consortium kicked off its first meeting. The two day meeting and conference drew a large audience of companies, universities and partners having a goal of working in a collaborative effort to advance battery technology in New York State.
At the meeting in Troy, the members of the consortium selected a Board of Directors to direct the activities of the organization. Board members were selected from industry, academia and partner organizations.
NY-BESTTM, working with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), announced seeding funds of $25 million in state funding to the New York energy storage industry for research and testing to bring new projects to market and build a strong network of battery and energy storage professionals. It is anticipated that the many NY-BESTTM member companies, universities, and partners will work to bring projects from the ideation stage to implementation and manufacturing within New York State.
The NY-BESTTM industry-focused coalition is working to build and promote a vibrant, world-class, advanced battery and energy storage sector in New York State. New York State and NY-BESTTM are aggressively building an energy storage industry with corporate, academic and federal partners. With the creation of this consortium, it is anticipated that long term results of collaborative efforts will result in economic development and job creation within the state in the battery industry.
